The other aerosol quantities are not being exploited for the same reason as last year: we do not have the right model diagnostics, except for surface extinction. I believe Michael Schulz who has been participating in MACC for the aerosol evaluation aspects tried to do something with surface extinction. I will check with him. Good news is that we are moving to a modal model (GLOMAP developed at University of Leeds) which would need size distribution observations for its verification. They may have used GAW data in the past for its development/evaluation. I will check with them. The effort is lead by Graham Mann.
