READ_ME.OCN =========== Welcome to the Nitrous Oxide And Halocompounds Group's public Ocean directory! The N2O and Halocompounds Group (NOAH) of NOAA's Climate Monitoring and Diagnostics Laboratory (CMDL) has been investigating the air-sea exchange of N2O, organic halogens, and other climatically important gases since 1987. Research cruises average about one per year and usually span a wide latitudinal range. Data are placed in these directories following their publication. For questions regarding these data, please contact Dr. James Butler (303 497 6898)or Dr. James Elkins (303 497 6224). E-mail addresses are jbutler@cmdl.noaa.gov or jelkins@cmdl.noaa.gov. As of 01 October 1996, you find seven subdirectories under ftp.cmdl.noaa.gov/noah/ocean/ : BLAST_94: --------- Data and related files from the Jan/Feb 1994 pacific cruise from Seattle, WA to Punta Arenas, Chile. RITS_89 ------- no data yet SAGA_II: -------- no data yet SAGA_III: --------- no data yet Please refer to the 0_readme.1st file (plain ASCII) in each subdirectory for a detailed description of contents of that particular subdirectory *BEFORE* you download any files. You can save yourself time and effort by selecting the files that you really need instead of downloading everything. Not all directories contain files at this time. If there are any data, you'll find a more detailed cruise info (CRUISE.INF) with a list of measured compounds in every subdirectory. We recommend that you download separate cruises into separate directories on your computer, as some filenames are identical for the different cruises! Have fun!
