DISCLAIMER: This data should only be used for a cursory view. There is no guarantee that this data is accurate, including time-stamps and labels. NOTE: The time in the cloud fraction files for the long-term SURFRAD sites indicate UTC but should be local time! At some point I'll write a little program to add a time parameter that is more conducive to plotting. The parameters for those files that have many parameters are: 1) time, text format 2) time, milliseconds since 1-1-1970, midnight UTC 3) opaque clouds (percentage) 4) thin clouds (percentage) 5) sunny (yes or no) 6) solar altitude (degrees) 7) solar azimuth (degrees) 8) pixel count: "outside of mirror" (box top, etc.) 9) pixel count: below horizon 10) pixel count: below processing zenith 11) pixel count: mask 12) pixel count: unknown 13) pixel count: sky region - if shipboard mode: 14) latitude 15) longitude 16) platform heading - if circumsolar region defined: 17) sun region total 18) sun region opaque 19) sun region thin - if horizon region defined: 20) horizon region total 21) horizon region opaque 22) horizon region thin - if zenith region defined: 23) zenith region total 24) zenith region opaque 25) zenith region thin - if sun strength reporting enabled 26) sun strength Notes: - Pixel count items 8 through 13 are mututally exclusive, i.e., they should add up to 288 x 352 = 101,376 - Item 26, sun strength is a ratio (expressed) of the pixel intensities on the blocking band near the sun and farther away from the sun. This value is not in any engineering units, and should be only interpreted as a relative value.
