CO2 fertilization effect? (Score 0, Troll)

Can the panel elucidate what we know now better or worse (?) about the "CO2 fertilization effect"? Has there been progress in this question over the last 10 years?

Corroboration of terrestrial ecosystem models (Score 3, Insightful)

Terrestrial ecosystem models are becoming increasingly complex. There is a general tendency to say that the more processes modeled, the better the model, but this is not necessarily true. For the ocean there are a series of tests (e.g. SF6 or 14C, now total anthropogenic DIC etc.), which models have to pass in order to be credible. What are similar validation tests for global (and regional) ecosystem models? Compared to Sendai: are there new datasets that pose strong validation constraints on ecosystem models?

Relating to the idea of people being a driver in carbon cycle research, can someone comment on what implications might come from Wangari Maathai receiving the 2004 Nobel Peace Prize for her work on nurturing a sustainable environment and its relation to civil strife?
