There are several recent papers dealing with occurences of drought over the past 5-10 years. Hoerling et al. Science 2003 ; Angert et al. PNAS 2005 ; Knorr et al. EOS 2005. These suggests that 1) droughts have been widespread at extratropical latitudes of both hemispheres (possibly in response to la Nina SST patterns) 2) that productivity related parameters in Europe, Central Asia, USA, (and your data in Mexico...) show reductions during the 1990's. So you may be quite right in supposing a continuous trend of reducing NPP. I'd be intererested in obtaining the reference to your data and methods from Mexico Cheers, Philippe
