The Airborne Arctic Stratospheric Expedition II (AASE II) was an investigation of chemical and transport process that influence the abundance of ozone in the Arctic lower stratosphere during the transition from autumn to spring. This expedition was conducted as a logical follow-up to the highly successful Airborne Antarctic Ozone Experiment (AAOE) in 1987 and Airborne Arctic Stratospheric Expedition (AASE) in 1989. AASE II marked the inaugural flights of ACATS-I, the first generation, single-channel airborne gas chromatograph built by NOAA/CMDL.
