Gary Hodges is a leading expert in surface radiation budget measurements and radiation instrumentation. Since 1997 he has been a key contributor to GML’s Surface Radiation (SURFRAD) measurement program. SURFRAD is the longest continuously operating surface radiation measurement budget network in the United States, and is regarded globally as one of the most well-run networks in operation today. For 15 years he has been funded by the Atmospheric Radiation Measurement Program (ARM) as the lead instrument mentor for the Multi-Filter Rotating Shadowband Radiometer. The ARM program operates about 50 MFRSR and derivative instruments. The Baseline Surface Radiation Network (BSRN) is an organization Mr. Hodges has been associated with since 2002. The 7 SURFRAD stations are part of the BSRN database, as well as 6 stations from the ARM program.
