Mark is a member of the GML Global Radiation and Aerosols (GRAD) group. Mark has extensive radiometer experience and will support instrumentation build activities in the GRAD group, particularly with the new Wildfire-Weather permanent and mobile sites. He is also involved in the U.S. Department of Energy’s Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) program providing support for solar radiometry measurement.
Mark previously worked at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s Solar Radiation Research Laboratory (SRRL). At SRRL, Mark was a co-mentor for the ARM program’s network of solar and infrared radiation monitoring stations equipped with radiometers operated for radiative balance measurements. The ARM program operates observatories globally using mobile and permanently located facilities for advancing atmospheric and climate research and includes instrument systems mentored by scientists at NOAA and participating organizations. Prior to working at NREL, Mark worked in the environmental consulting and engineering profession and was involved in projects for private and government related clients. Mark’s projects included air quality, air toxics, visibility, aerosols, meteorological and hydrological monitoring, network design and implementation, and monitoring method development.
