Before joining GML as a CIRES Associate Scientist in the Halocarbons And other Trace Species (HATS) group, David was a Research Meteorologist at the University of Washington, where he participated in several airborne field campaigns and worked to characterize trace gas emissions and aerosol of ocean, urban, and biomass/petroleum burning origin with the Atmospheric Science department’s Cloud and Aerosol Research Group. He transitioned to GML in 1999 to help finalize a dataset of ground-based, in situ trace gas measurements performed by electron capture gas chromatograph systems located in the field as they were in the process of being retired and replaced by updated systems. He later began assisting the HATS airborne measurements group during field campaigns, and processing the data generated by an electron capture gas chromatograph designed for the purpose of running samples collected in flasks from a global network of ground sites.
